World Book Day Freebie!

Updated: Aug 2, 2023

World Book Day. A phrase that either excites you or fills you with dread! But it much more than just stressing about a costume.

Don't get me wrong, I love dressing up! We have an extensive collection of fancy dress clothes in our house. But being more eco minded these days, we try to reuse them where possible and it annoys me somewhat that supermarkets and other retailers take advantage of parents at this time by producing poor quality, expensive WBD costumes.

Anyway, that's another rant!

I'm here with a freebie for tired teachers, exhausted home educators and frazzled parents.

To me, World Book Day is about celebrating books and all they have to offer. Books have the ability to take you to places you've never even dreamed about and meet people your wouldn't normally encounter.

It inspired a poem - 'There's Nothing To Do!'. And I want to give it to you completely free. Along with some activities too - because once a teacher, always a teacher!

The poem, activity ideas and a ready made sheet for one of those ideas, are available at the bottom of this blog post.

I also got a bit prop happy and made a video for your enjoyment. My almost four year old thought it was hilarious so hopefully it will make you smile!

Let me know your thoughts as always!

P.S. Remember to sign up to my mailing list for more free things (a short chapter ebook!) and news about my up-and-coming picture book!
